With his ethereal high voice and genderqueer glamor, Venezuelan soprano Samuel Mariño brings a breath of fresh air to the baroque world. He sings roles that were originally written for the highest voices - with style, power and real star appeal. His repertoire: dramatic arias and emotional bravura pieces by George Frideric Handel, recharged with queer naturalness. Between opera stage, fashion statement and act of freedom, the result is an evening that catapults baroque into the present - and shakes up the norm with every note.
