Heroes, politics, love, power, violence: the Song of the Nibelungs combines everything that makes a spectacular epic.

The story of supernatural powers, extraordinary beings and a treasure of gigantic proportions has been told for nine centuries and has inspired the works of Wagner, Tolkien and Tarantino, among others.
The author Ferdinand Schmalz has reinterpreted the Rhine adventure from a heroic saga to a Hilden saga and placed the two women Brünhild and Kriemhild at the center of the story. With intelligent wit and spot-on punchlines, they no longer discuss the question of who has the more powerful husband, but instead take their fates into their own hands in the truest sense of the word - by taking their fates into their own hands.
Instead, they take their destinies into their own hands in the truest sense of the word - by confidently defending themselves against their tormentors, the supposed Rhine heroes.

Ferdinand Schmalz was born in Graz in 1985 and studied theater studies and philosophy in Vienna. His first play Am Beispiel der Butter was awarded the Retzhofer Theaterpreis in 2013 and Schmalz was voted Young Playwright of the Year by Theater heute in 2014. He received the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2017 for his novel "Mein Lieblingstier heißt Winter". Having already written commissioned works for the Schauspielhaus Graz, Schauspiel Leipzig and Schauspielhaus Zürich, "Hildensaga" was commissioned by the Nibelungenfestspiele Worms.
