With HO TZU NYEN: Time & the Tiger, the Hamburger Kunsthalle is dedicating a solo exhibition to Ho Tzu Nyen (*1976), one of the most innovative international artists, and showing his multifaceted work of the last two decades. The Singaporean artist creates complex video works and immersive multimedia installations rooted in Southeast Asian culture and based on historical events, documentary material, art history, music videos and my-thical stories. Time & the Tiger presents seven large installations: The Nameless; The Name (2015); One or Several Tigers; The Critical Dictionary of Southeast (2017); Hotel Aporia (2019); T for Time and T for Time: Timepieces (2023-ongoing). The works trace the evolution of Ho's work through the tiger and other shifting figures that convey the promise of becoming and metamorphosis, and time as an embodied and heterogeneous experience.
