Hoersaal15 goes Magic Mountain

Beauty and the Beast (Johannes Baumgardt & Emil Bach)

After performances all over the world (Landshut, Vornbach, Simbach am Inn), Beauty and the Beast are finally back where they started out as a duo: In Passau - and now for the first time at the Zauberberg! The two have many fresh songs in their luggage, which will be performed for the first time on this evening.

The writer and singer-songwriter Emil Bach jokingly calls himself Philipp Heidepeter in real life. For his chansons, the doctor of linguistics, who is now in his second year on tour with his debut program Schöne Lieder, vol. 3, not only plays unconventional piano accompaniments, but also deals with the small and big questions of everyday life. Where his songs about pizza deliveries to Atlantis, gay penguins or pasta with ketchup lead often only becomes clear at the end, and the linguistically playful lyrics reveal a mixture of thoughtfulness and humor that makes it difficult to pinpoint a basic feeling.

The songs by Johannes Baumgardt, who sings soulfully on the guitar about home and the supposedly small things, are also thought-provoking. The fact that the fully qualified lawyer from Fürstenzell likes to write his lyrics in dialect and from the heart lends his songs a special warmth. The songs, which the two musicians present partly alone and partly together, result in a contrasting, entertaining and equally light and profound mixture that is able to distract you for at least one evening from everything that is going on in the world outside.

And above all, the question hovers: which of the two charming, eloquent and handsome young men is the beauty - and which is the beast?
