The Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony with Death and Transfiguration and An Alpine Symphony

On Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 6.30 pm, the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Lower Saxony (JPON) will be performing Eine Alpensinfonie and Tod und Verklärung at the Euregio Music Festival on the St. Angela campus in Osnabrück. This means that two major works are once again on the program this year, with which the JPON hopes to delight audiences.

Richard Strauss was a master of symphonic poetry and created two outstanding orchestral works, Eine Alpensinfonie and Tod und Verklärung, which musically capture dramatic experiences of nature and life. Both works demonstrate Strauss' masterful orchestration and his ability to translate intense emotional experiences into music.

The JPON is a young orchestra with musicians from very different backgrounds. It thrives on its diversity, in which aspiring professionals and music-loving amateurs from Lower Saxony, the whole of Germany and beyond pursue the common goal of bringing great symphonic works to the stage. Founded in 1989, the orchestra has always been organized on a voluntary basis and thrives on the voluntary commitment of its members. Once a year, the JPON meets for its major summer project. In two and a half weeks, a challenging program is rehearsed and performed in four final concerts.
