Wood is a material with a special character - it is as malleable as it is resistant. Working with it means responding to its peculiarities and exploring your own creative possibilities in dialog with the material. In this course, Bremen sculptor Sarah Hillebrecht will accompany you carefully and with professional depth on the way to your individual sculpture. Step by step, you will go from sketches to realization. Joint introductions to the technique of hand carving, tools and materials science create a sound basis. Depending on your level of knowledge, you can work in more depth - for example with experimental surface design such as scarfing. You are welcome to bring your own tools, wood and ideas; basic equipment is available. Hillebrecht studied Integrated Design in Bremen and has been working as a freelance artist with international exhibitions and residencies since 2010.
