homegrOWN #10: This Used To Be A House To Me

Special feature on Wednesdays: On both Wednesdays (09. & 16.10.), a native English and French speaker is on site.

>>The project "Honey, it's not what you think! | This used to be a house to me." arranges the involuntary heritage hidden in objects and images. The double exhibition, which takes place in the Orangerie am Englischen Garten (Honey it's not what you think! 26.09-31.09) and in the Gastatelier in the Werksviertel-Mitte (This used to be a house to me. 06.10-19.10), processes personal myths, useless furnishings and awkward reproductions into walk-in case studies. These create a perspective of the house in which visual axes and constructed truths constantly oscillate. Family history, reenacted incidents and wild conjectures populate the starry-eyed autobiographical or fabricated objects, which are infused with irony, opening up the possibility for the audience to follow a story without becoming too entangled in it.<<

The "homegrOWN" series presents the artists in the Werksviertel-Mitte and gives them a platform to work as curators and/or artists. The series is dedicated to the artist Silke Witzsch, who died in 2017.

The latest edition, homegrOWN #10, shows works by the artist David Ilzhöfer.

The double exhibition, which takes place at the Orangerie am Englischen Garten (Honey it's not what you think ! 26.09-31.09) and in the Gastatelier du Werksviertel-Mitte (This used to be a house to me. 06.10-19.10), transforms mythes personnels, meubles inutiles et les reproductions maladroites en études de cas ambulatoires. Celles-ci create a perspective of the home in which the axes visuels et les vérités construites constamment oscillent. The family history, the reconstituted incidents and the sauvage projects populate the autobiographical or fabricated objects in the eye of the beholder, which are infused with irony, opening up the possibility for the public to relive a history without being overly inhibited.<<

The series " homegrOWN " presents the artists of the Werksviertel-Mitte and offers them a platform to work as conservators and artists. The series is dedicated to the artist Silke Witzsch, who died in 2017.
