The body of young prostitute Theresa Banks is found in Dear Meadow. FBI agents Chester Desmond (Chris Isaak) and Sam Stanley (Kiefer Sutherland) are assigned to the case. But the inhabitants of the small town are behaving strangely and seem to be trying to cover something up. When Desmond suddenly disappears without a trace while investigating Theresa Banks' caravan, Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) is called in on the case. But his attempts to solve the case also fail. Gradually, a dark maelstrom of sex, drugs and violence is revealed behind the small-town façade, leading to the discovery of another body: that of 17-year-old Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee).

The prequel to the cult series "The Twin Peaks Mystery" (1990-1991) shows the last seven days of Laura Palmer's life, during which the 17-year-old schoolgirl went through hell. TWIN PEAKS - THE FILM premiered at the 1992 Cannes Film Festival and earned David Lynch a nomination for the Palme d'Or, while Angelo Badalamenti received three awards for his sound compositions.
In addition to the actors known from the TV series such as Kyle MacLachlan, Ray Wise, Mädchen Amick and James Marshall, stars such as David Bowie, Harry Dean Stanton, Kiefer Sutherland and Chris Isaak also played a role.
