With its new program "Hörkoma", the Berlin ensemble Lange//Berweck//Lorenz presents two world premieres for synthesizer trio - by Marta Sniady (Poland) and Lula Romero (Spain/Germany). The program is complemented by "Artefacts" (2023) by Pierre Jodlowski (France) and the epic "DW30 - Loops for Klaus Schulze" (2017) by Bernhard Lang (Austria).

Pierre Jodlowski's piece "Artefacts" combines avant-garde with irony. It is based on a collection of samples that has grown over the years and whose roots in metal music are unmistakable. But instead of using them brute force, Jodlowski transforms them into a subtle chamber music aesthetic - chamber metal, so to speak.

Polish composer Marta ?niady (born 1986) creates works at the interface of music, video and performance. Her audiovisual compositions address social issues relating to body images and technology and are often created in collaboration with other art forms.

In her music, Lula Romero deals intensively with space, sound movement and their social dimension. She often works in the context of feminist theories and social equality. Her own claim to art: "Art should not appeal to the listener through simple consumability or as a mere expression of the artist - and thus lose its truth - but by actually creating new possibilities."

"DW30 - Loops for Klaus Schulze" is a tribute to the legendary synthesizer pioneer Klaus Schulze. Bernhard Lang combines his characteristic loops with grotesque, synthesized voices, room-filling reverb sounds and harsh, microtonal noise layers - a sonic reminder of the Berlin School of electronic music.

"Hörkoma" is a program full of contrasts - from sonically powerful to subtle, from powerful electronics to fine, sophisticated structures. A multi-layered look at what synthesizers and electronic music can achieve today.

For seven days, experimental music by young composers from all over Europe will be heard in Kiel - together with audiovisual art and interactive installations.

From 16 to 23 May 2025, the Frequenz_Festival Kiel will present a very special visual and listening experience with numerous highlights in the program. The works of the youngest generation of multimedia artists will be the focus of the ten concerts and four installations at six different venues in Kiel. Since the festival was founded, the Pumpe has become one of the most important cooperation partners and will once again host various concerts, two world premieres and the festival week's sonorous closing evening.
This year's program reflects socio-political themes that refer to the disintegration of social structures, the blurring of boundaries between the digital and real world or the loss of real contact with reality and create new artistic orders.
