HOW SOON IS NOW? performing cities
Since 2022 and with the premiere of HOW SOON IS NOW? in Freiburg, Freiburg choreographer Karolin Stächele and her DAGADA dance team have dedicated themselves to apocalyptic discourse. How useful is a fear-inducing doomsday construct from biblical times to move us to action? How can we deal responsibly with knowledge? What does the new "normal" look like?
With HOW SOON IS NOW? performing cities, DAGADA dance is now traveling through other cities and reworking this sensually tangible dance piece with interested citizens. Together, they perform in the middle of the audience, in an open, foggy space. Sound collages, fog and light compositions create phases of perseverance, of being thrown back on oneself. Three dancers and the movement choir of Karlsruhe citizens accompany the audience through the invisibility. Images of passivity, excessive demands, guilt, repression and islands of prosperity emerge, in the distance or very close. Connectedness and hope germinate, a next possible step turns into a first conversation...

Interdisciplinary workshop day "HOW SOON IS NOW? performing cities" for everyone aged 12 and over
When / Where? 23.02.2025 / 10-14h / Karlstorbahnhof, meeting point at the headquarters / Free admission!
On Saturday, 23.02. from 10h - 14h, DAGADA dance and the Käte Hamburger Institute for Apocalyptic and Postapocalyptic Studies at the University of Heidelberg (CAPAS) cordially invite all interested citizens aged 12 and over to a workshop day at the Karlstorbahnhof. In addition to the dance performance on Friday evening, we would like to work with you in a variety of ways, with mind and body, on topics such as fears, excessive demands, displacement or resignation in the context of the global challenges we face. How does that feel, where is the next step? After warming up together at the headquarters, you can meet for concrete workshops on contemporary dance, a creative writing workshop or an exciting "world café", a discussion with various CAPAS scientists. At the end of the courses, we will present our first results to each other. Participation is free of charge, small snack included!
