In Human Landscapes, Compagnie LaPerformance explores the inner conflict between humanity's connection to and detachment from nature. The attempt to use and control nature has created a gap between it and us. Can we continue to live in the systems we have created, which simultaneously support and destroy us?
This ambivalence is the focus of the play. Two universes conceived as dioramas resonate on stage: a female and a male one. Two compositions of a constructed nature. Dioramas, with their old-fashioned 19th century charm, show ecosystems and illusions at the same time. Here, middle-aged protagonists become possible museum objects, vacillating between needs and social roles.
Is this a reflection of an old world or does the fragility of being human harbor the seeds of a new community?
