Burlington, Canada 2003: Driven by his approaching graduation, over-ambitious film buff Lawrence dreams of attending film school at New York University. More of an outsider at school, he builds himself an armor of arrogance and hopes to finally find his place in his new part-time job at the local video store. However, a series of painful realizations forces Lawrence to consider the possibility that he is simply a pretentious asshole.

In her feature film debut, Canadian director Chandler Levack delivers a coming-of-age film with humor, but which also develops a great deal of emotional depth. Lawrence is both her youthful self and her experience with "men who hide in their movie or pop culture knowledge so that they don't have to perceive women as people."
