Spontaneous street scenes, bodies that move intuitively to music. In his new work, Hungarian choreographer and performer Viktor Szeri combines everyday movement material with hedonistic principles from club culture and the art scene. Exposed on a plateau, three performers immerse themselves in an immersive surface of sound and video. Electronic beats, 90s jingles, rhinestones, baggy jeans. Maximum pleasure and a promise of freedom. But instead of submitting to the entertainment, three isolated bodies meet in a dance that unfolds as a sensual experience. "I Quit Ordinary Dancing" is an exploration of the potential of art beyond consumer culture and a reference to the fact that although dance is an elementary part of life, the artistic creative process can be isolating for artists.
