Free, outdoors and under palm trees: this summer, the DURCHLÜFTEN music festival will once again transform the Humboldt Forum's large Schlüterhof courtyard into a lively meeting place for sound, rhythm and culture.

Over four weekends, music from all over the world will radiate from the stage: from the raw energy of Mexican cumbia punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan dodo blues, from the electrifying syncopation of Congolese soukous to the powerful messages of Afrofuturist big bands. Japanese folk with a Caribbean influence, soulful jazz, hip-hop and the joy and resilience of the Frafra gospel round off this celebration of sound - boundless, multi-perspective and irresistibly danceable!

Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti (BO/BRA/NL) & Frank Rosaly (US/PR/NL) - MESTIZX

MESTIZX is the debut album of Bolivian-born singer and multidisciplinary performer Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti and renowned Chicago jazz drummer Frank Rosaly. Together they explore themes such as decolonization and identity. Ferragutti and Rosaly - a couple both privately and artistically - are composers, arrangers and musicians in one.

From their home base in Amsterdam, they delved deep into the soundscapes of their respective roots in Bolivia, Brazil and Puerto Rico and created a very personal reflection on decolonization and the indomitable power of ritual and protest.

The artists deliberately chose the title MESTIZX - the gender-neutral form of an often derogatory Spanish-colonial term for "mixed ancestry" - as an expression of the tension between questioning and appropriation, between identity and artistic practice in the space between. Musically, the album combines Latin American rhythms with avant-garde jazz, punk and electronic influences, creating a unique and unmistakable sound.
