IFFF Dortmund+Köln 2025

In the organizer's words:

The International Women's Film Festival Dortmund+Cologne is Germany's largest forum for women in the film industry and presents outstanding films by women of all genres and styles. For more than 40 years, the festival has actively contributed to films by female directors being seen, appreciated and canonized. We strengthen the influence of women in all trades of the cinema industry: first and foremost directors, but also image designers, producers, screenwriters, composers, actors and many more.

We are particularly, but not exclusively, committed to the themes of emancipation, feminism, the queer movement and the issue of power redistribution (diversity). Our curatorial expertise is condensed in programs that often anticipate important socio-political trends. The thematic focus is exemplary of this. But the special programs, performances, concerts, readings and workshop discussions also set standards.

We honor films by women with well-endowed prizes, focus on networking and film education and conduct research on films by women. Beyond its international influence, the IFFF Dortmund+Cologne stands for diversity in the regional media landscape and is a central component of NRW's film culture. The festival is an important cultural highlight of the cities of Dortmund and Cologne.

The festival program alternates annually between Dortmund and Cologne, with a selection program always being offered in the other city.
