Italian Literature Festival Munich:

The central theme chosen by ILfest 2025 is: "How is history told?" Recently, numerous novels and essays have been published in which individual fates are told against the backdrop of the historical events of the 20th century - shaped, formed and often drastically changed by them. Particularly in commemoration of the 80 years since the end of the Second World War, these works deal with topics such as violence and peace, the war of yesterday and today. It is not only about the question of how history is told and passed on in the form of personal memories, but also about how it is created and established in the official narrative. Last but not least, they illustrate the healing and comforting function of literature, which also provides important support in times of instability and disorientation.

Il filo conduttore che abbiamo scelto quest'anno è 'Come si racconta la Storia?', perché tanti sono iromanzi e saggi usciti recentemente in cui le vicende individuali si proiettano sullo sfondo delle vicende storiche del Novecento, ne vengono influenzate, forgiate, stravolte. Proprio nella ricorrenza di 80 anni dalla fine della Seconda guerra mondiale questi libri hanno a che fare con la violenza e la pace, la guerra di ieri e di oggi. Il discorso non riguarda soltanto il modo in cui la Storia viene raccontata e tramandata nella memoria a livello di ricordi personali, ma anche come essa viene costruita e si afferma nella narrazione ufficiale. Non da ultimo, essi mostrano la funzione della letteratura come cura, sollievo, anche in tempi instabili, di disorientamento.

ILfest is aimed at all people who share a passion for reading and the joy of meeting and discussing Italian authors - in Italian or German. ILfest - Italian Literature Festival Munich is organized by Elisabetta Cavani/ItalLIBRI and the Italian Cultural Institute under the patronage of the Italian Consulate General in Munich. It is supported by the Cultural Department of the City of Munich.
