ILLUSIONEN - WIE SCHWANENSEE

In the organizer's words:

Choreography John Neumeier. Music by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky.
Ballet in two acts
recommended from 12 years

Duration: approx. 3 hours 15 minutes

Description:

John Neumeier's ballet drama Illusions - like Swan Lake is based on the life and suffering of King Ludwig II. Neumeier combines his biography with motifs from Swan Lake. The second act of Lev Ivanov's version and the "Black Swan Pas de deux" are reconstructed. In the production, Ludwig takes refuge in a Swan Lake performance in order to find redemption from his torment. The unfinished walls of Herrenchiemsee Castle symbolize his longing for completion and at the same time his prison. The final image thematizes the unfulfillable human desire for love.
