IM OSTEN - Geschichten aus der Sonderzone

In the organizer's words:

In this rousing play, four people from East and West meet at a campsite for a barbecue on a warm summer evening. While the grilled sausage from Thuringia, Bautz'ner mustard and beer create an exuberant atmosphere, the mood changes when an unexpected statement shakes the group: "You colonized us in 1990!" Suddenly, an emotional storm of opinions, injuries and old wounds erupts.
"IM OSTEN" is based on specially researched stories from East Germany and spans a dramatic arc from 1989 to the present day. With a lot of humor, a pinch of provocation and a live medley of East German classics, the play invites us to question the post-reunification period anew and to reclaim the sovereignty of interpretation over our own history.
An evening of theater that makes you think, but also makes you laugh - an exciting examination of identity, memory and community.
