Question: What do Snow White's stepmother, Marilyn Monroe, Nefertiti, Empress Sissi, Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian have in common? Answer: They are beautiful! And that's why many people would like to look like them. "Looking beautiful" is the goal. Our time is obsessed with beauty, says comic artist, radio presenter and political scientist Liv Strömquist and examines in the SPIEGELSAAL what the everyday stream of idealized images does to us. For example, when we look at Kylie & Co. and - unlike when we look at a "beautiful" sunset - we don't feel relaxation and upliftment, but envy and inferiority. Or when we constantly look at pictures of ourselves to find out whether we are as "beautiful" as we should be. Or when we discover that - thanks to smartphones and social media - we can control the image that others have of us.

Director Katrin Plötner premiered ICH FÜHL'S NICHT 2022 at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. With IM SPIEGELSAAL, she is now once again exploring the theatrical potential of Strömquist's worlds of language and images.
