In their new piece "IM WAL", the dance theater collective OOPSALA takes an artistic look at the pollution of the oceans. Through imaginative choreographies, the three dancers take the audience into the beautiful underwater world. Suddenly, the waves and noises get bigger and louder, the stage begins to shake and, suddenly, everyone finds themselves in the belly of the whale. There is a yawning emptiness, except for a few bubble wrap sheets and plastic bottles. The audience is invited to become part of the performance through games and improvisations and contribute to solving the problem: How do we get out of the whale? Should we help the whale get rid of the plastic? And if so, how?

In their new dance theater piece IM WAL, OOPSALA introduces young audiences to contemporary dance by exploring the topic of waste and ocean pollution through interactive theater. Three performers bring the audience into their world of deep sea exploration, when suddenly the space is swallowed and they find themselves in the belly of a whale. The audience is invited to join parts of the performance through games and world building, actively involving them by helping the performers to make decisions and contribute to solving problems: how do we get out of the whale? Should we fear the whale or the plastic?

IM WAL engages children's curiosity for dance and movement by questioning how we use and interact with everyday materials (such as bubble cushions or plastic bottles). By using characters and narrative, we aim to bring climate policy content to the conversation through imagination and humor, making the topics more digestible and tangible for young minds.

'IM WAL' has a playing time of 45 minutes and was developed for - and with - primary schools and day-care centers.
