IMAGINE! 2025 | Lavinia Knop-Walling: Es ist nicht immer Gold was glänzt

In the organizer's words:

As part of IMAGINE! 2nd International Festival for Narrative Art in Chemnitz, Dresden & Leipzig

Let's set out to find a treasure! Where do we start? There in the garden or here in the forest

or over there in the cow pasture? Treasures are often found in unusual places. They are

not always easy to find, because sometimes they are hidden under a mountain of dirt.

In this story time for children and their grown-ups, we meet people who are looking for treasures.

for treasures. Their desire takes them to unusual places. The first meets a pot that eats gold and spits out

spits out something completely different. The second finds a tree full of sunbeams and the third

a sky-high tree that hides a treasure in its crown. In the end, they all have to realize

realize after much searching and trying: All that glitters is not gold.

Lavinia Knop-Walling is a blind storyteller, workshop leader, blogger, author, mother and cat roommate from Berlin. Her hobbies are audio description in theater and telling traditional and autobiographical stories. She likes to describe herself as a person who dances at many weddings at the same time. Since completing her Master's degree in European Media Studies, she has written, blogged, tweeted, edited, moderated, lectured and talked a lot. She talks about audio description in the theater, about life as a blind woman and about seeing differently. In the field of audio description, she leads workshops, writes articles, moderates events and accompanies performance groups in the development of inclusive plays. As a storyteller, I tell traditional and autobiographical stories for adults and children, often focusing on the themes of blindness, darkness and inclusion. Her aim is to develop traditional and autobiographical stories that challenge ableist structures.
