At the end of the exhibition In Between And Never There, a final guided tour through the historic Chinatown in Hamburg-St. Pauli will take place with historian Dr. Lars Amenda.
The tour combines the speculative visions of the future in the video work Nostalgia Machines by Hong Kong-based artist duo Zheng Mahler with the little-known history of St. Pauli's Chinatown.

In Between And Never There is an artistic activation of the historic Millerntorwache - curated by Bettina Freimann - that explores the representation of marginalized identities in majority-dominated contexts. Located in the multi-layered urban fabric of St. Pauli, the project reflects local and global power relations.

The first edition is dedicated to the lost history of the Chinese community in neighboring St. Pauli. Activated by the video work Nostalgia Machines, which creates a futuristic, speculative image of the metropolis of Hong Kong, the exhibition builds a bridge to the repressed history of Germany's first and only Chinatown.
