Carla Zúñiga Morales is considered the most active and influential playwright in Chile and has a wide stylistic range. Her works are edgy and characterized by a particularly sharp sense of humour, which she also applies rigorously to serious topics. For her latest theater text, the author, who sees herself as a decidedly feminist artist, has explored the genre of the horror film. "In the Darkness of the Night" is a sequence of six very different scenes in which the author does not allow fascinating perpetrators or clever detectives to speak, but only women to have their say: Women who, in the face of the increasing number of femicides, try to deal with their everyday fear, not to lose courage, to participate in life and to keep their sense of humor.

Carla Zúñiga Morales staged her play herself last winter in Santiago de Chile. At the WELT/BÜHNE Festival, her work can be seen for the first time in German-speaking countries.
