INCOGNITO
Incognito was founded in 1979 by Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and Paul Williams and soon after landed a hit with the hit single Parisienne Girl.
Their first album Jazz Funk from 1981 was an instrumental tour de force with guest musicians such as horn players Hugh Masekela, Peter Segona and Claude Deppa, the legendary British saxophonist Ray Carless and the famous Jamaican trombonist Vin Gordon.
Regarding their sound, bandleader Bluey explains:
"When I write and produce, I 100% respect the spirit of the musicians and singers. I have them in mind, think about their style and personal musical journey and give them the space for their individuality to shine. I try to get the best out of them, and in return they give their best for my songs and productions. This exchange is the basis of the Incognito sound and the ideology of the band. We work with and for each other!"
STEREO MC's
The Stereo MC's are the globally recognized hip-hop/electronic dance pioneers from Brixton via Nottingham.
They are best known for their international top 20 hit Connected, released in 1992 and taken from the album of the same name. This reached number 2 in the UK album charts and included other hits such as Step It Up, Creation and Ground Level. The album led to the band winning two Brit Awards in 1994 for Best Group and Best Album.
Rob and Nick, who had been friends and neighbors since childhood, formed the Stereo MC's in the mid-1980s. Their shared love of early hip-hop, funk and electronic music inspired them to make music themselves.
