Indiecon 2025 – Independent Publishing Festival – "Where do we go from here?"

In 2025, Indiecon asks the question:
"Where do we go from here?"

Indiecon is the international festival for independent publishing - a place to get to know new magazines, books, podcasts, zines, websites, newsletters and narrative forms.

Over three days, from September 5 to 7, 2025, publishers of digital, analogue and hybrid publications from all over the world will meet in Hamburg's Oberhafen to design alternative futures, renegotiate narratives and strengthen their shared network.

What characterizes "so-called Women*'s Magazine", how desire and aesthetics become forces of resistance or how a new economic narrative develops around a publication - these and other topics will be discussed in talks with publishers. Publications such as "Troublemakers" from Japan or "Icarus Complex" from Luxembourg will introduce themselves in speed dating. This year's Indiecon line-up is once again international and diverse, including the newly founded environmental magazine "atmo" from Hamburg, the art book collective "51 Personae" from Shanghai and the fashion and society magazine "Yonderland" from Lagos, Nigeria.

Visitors will gain insights into the international indie publishing scene, discover new publications, talk to the creators of the independent magazines and listen to all the talks on the main stage. Entry to the festival is still free of charge.

What began as a conference in 2014 has developed into an internationally renowned platform for interdisciplinary exchange: Indiecon has been an important meeting place for publishers, magazine makers and art and media professionals for twelve years.

The festival welcomes more than 2,500 visitors to Hamburg's Oberhafen every year. This year, around 140 publishers from over 30 countries are presenting their work - including from Nigeria, Singapore, the USA, China and Japan.

Indiecon is organized by brueder creative cooperative, a cooperative for design, code and content based in Hamburg and Berlin.
