Indisches Garba Tanz Event 2025

On this evening, we will experience the traditional Garba dances from Gujarat in India together. Everyone who would like to immerse themselves in the world of this dance is welcome: Experienced Garba dancers can simply join in and the curious can learn their first steps under the guidance of Rupali Modak. Those who prefer to just watch can enjoy what the dancers in our VHS course have learned. There will also be snacks and drinks - and of course time to chat.

What exactly is Garba? There are many different forms of dance in Gujarat, which are characterized by flowing movements, symbolic gestures and clapping. Dancing in circles celebrates the cycle of life. In addition to dancing, colorful costumes and elaborate jewelry are part of the tradition that has been passed down for generations. Garba is mainly danced during the Navratri festival in the fall. In 2023, Garba was added to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
