With guitarist Norbert Scholly and pianist Rainer Böhm, two virtuosos on their instruments have joined forces. Their interplay creates music that is characterized by graceful melodies and harmonies. This music is lyrical and narrative, in which every note and every tone is made to shine. Thoughtful, fragile, full of timid poetry. A duo that knows how to deal with the power of melodies - and artfully relates the piano and the guitar to each other.

Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra feat. Shuteen Erdenabaatar

Born in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, composer and pianist Shuteen Erdenebaatar came to Germany after her classical studies in Mongolia, where she devoted herself to jazz and developed her own voice, in which the very different stages of her path are reflected as her own unmistakable identity. Her classical foundation is unmistakable, which is reflected in her technical brilliance, stylistic finesse and the thematic structure of her compositions.

Following her debut album Rising Sun, released in September 2023 on the renowned New York label Motéma Music, she was quickly recognized by the press and acclaimed by audiences as one of the most promising rising stars on the European jazz scene, with countless sold-out concerts in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, the Czech Republic, China, Mongolia and Iceland. She has been invited with her music to the most important and renowned festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, Jazzahead!, Jazz Baltica, Transition Festival, Reykjavik Jazz Festival or Rockit Festival. Shuteen Erdenebaatar was also awarded the prestigious German Jazz Award 2024 and the biggest Mongolian cultural award "Mungun Mod" in the same year.

For the concerts with the CCJO, Shuteen has arranged existing compositions as well as new material created especially for the CCJO. Her music tells of encounters and moments in life between Mongolian soul and European sophistication and takes us on an impressive journey of discovery.
