From TikTok to the stage: Iñigo Quintero brings "Si no estás" to Germany

The young Spanish singer Iñigo Quintero Dolz del Castellar conquered the global music world with a bang in the fall of 2023. His hit "Si no estás" catapulted him to number 1 in the charts in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and, of course, in his native Spain within just a few weeks. Quintero, born in December 2001 in the Galician city of A Coruña, seemed to become a star overnight - a rare, almost fairytale success that also earned him a top position in the streaming services. He was the first Spanish-language solo artist to top Spotify's Global Official Charts. And that at just 22 years old. What at first glance seems like the classic dream of a musician's life, however, began very differently for Iñigo Quintero. Music was never more than a hobby for him at first. After leaving school, he moved to Madrid to study psychology and teaching. It was a traditional, sensible path that he wanted to take. But he couldn't let go of music. This led to the pop ballad "Si no estás", which he initially uploaded to Spotify in September 2022 - without great expectations. The breakthrough came a year later, triggered by the TikTok platform. Within days, the song spread rapidly and countless videos were created in which people hugged, laughed and cried to the melancholy sounds. For Quintero, this success was overwhelming. "I had to take time to process everything," he says today. For a long time, he didn't dare to play in front of an audience. Even when practising, he used to close the door to his room. It is all the more astonishing that he now performs in sold-out stadiums.

His music, says Quintero, is "innate and instinctive". It enables him to establish a connection with himself and the audience. This is also demonstrated by his EP "Es solo música", which was released in April and underlines his focus on the essentials of life and art. In February 2025, Iñigo Quintero will also perform two concerts in Germany for the first time as part of his European tour. Fans can look forward to seeing how the young star from Spain continues his success story live.
