INSEL lesen mit Inga Gaile (Lettland)

In the organizer's words:

On her way back from the Leipzig Book Fair, the bestselling Latvian author stops at INSELGALERIE Berlin to present the German translation of her new novel "The Taste of Black Earth", which deals with the fates of Latvians during the Nazi regime.

Inga Gaile finds a language for feelings of guilt and repression, pain and loss of reality, for the madness and insanity that still has to be overcome generations after the European horror.

Inga Gaile was born in Riga in 1976. She is not only an author of poetry and prose, but also a performance artist, theater director and president of the Latvian PEN. She is active in the Latvian feminist movement and co-founder of the stand-up comedy group Women's Stand-up.
