IN/SOMNIA - The Politics of Rest and Restlessness

In the organizer's words:

With works by MARIONA BERENGUER, LINE CHEVALLEY, KAROLINA GRZYWNOWICZ and MAHMOUD KHALED

In a world characterized by exhaustion, rest not only serves to regenerate, but also holds subversive potential. More than an expression of passivity and inertia, the works assembled in the group exhibition IN/SOMNIA understand it as a self-determined space for action and imagination. It is therefore not in contradiction to the waking state, but rather an extension and reorganization of it, essential for the maintenance of our biological bodily functions and the strengthening of social relationships. On the one hand, rest is associated with socio-economic privileges that often require the labor of others; on the other hand, it testifies to vulnerability and trust and describes a deep experience of communality.

The exhibition was curated by LISA DEML and MARIE-SOPHIE DORSCH and designed by GLORIA JURADO.
