Reise-Vortrag: Iron Woman

The Iron Curtain Trail is a European long-distance cycle route along the former Iron Curtain from the Black Sea in Turkey to the Barents Sea in Finland. A journey over 10,000 kilometers and through 20 countries. However, you should also read the small print: Because so far only one person has made this journey - and it leads through Russia. Incentive enough for Rebecca Salentin to embark on an adventure on two wheels. She travels from the mountainous Balkans across Europe via the Baltic States to the icy Barents Sea. She exposes herself to wilderness, wind and weather, encounters reindeer, bears, wolves, wolverines and herding dogs, passes the former death strip, risks arrest and experiences at first hand the effects that the former division between "East" and "West" still has on Europe today. But she also learns very humbly how other people have to live - and how profound encounters with strangers can be.
