IRONMAN

In the organizer's words:

Over 2,500 athletes from all over the world will face this challenge on June 1 next year. The start on the morning of the race at Jungfernstieg is spectacular and very prestigious. The athletes will swim 3.8 km through the Inner and Outer Alster before leaving the water at the Kleine Alster via the steps out onto the Rathausmarkt, running along Reesendamm to the transition zone on Ballindamm and changing to their bikes there.

The 180km long bike course leads on two laps along some of the city's most beautiful sights such as the Speicherstadt, the Landungsbrücken and the Reeperbahn into the green and idyllic Vier- und Marschlande in the west of Hamburg. Back in the transition zone on Ballindamm, the participants slip into their running shoes and set off on the final marathon.

The 42.2 km running course is the crowning finale with an incomparable atmosphere in Hamburg's city center. Passing thousands of spectators, the route takes the athletes on four laps along the western bank of the Alster and through Hamburg's city center via Gänsemarkt, Jungfernstieg and Rathausmarkt. After a total of around 225 km, the athletes receive their final reward at the finish line on the Rathausmarkt and are greeted with the magical words "YOU ARE AN IRONMAN" to the cheers of the spectators on the grandstands in front of Hamburg City Hall.
