Girilal Baars is a singer, musician and composer based in Uppsala. He is interested in making the incomprehensible comprehensible and vice versa.

Baars and Rößler first met in 2021 on the stage of the defunct club Au Topsi Pohl in Berlin. It was clear that they had to play together again.

Since then, they have performed in various line-ups in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the Baltic States. The duo's first demo recording was released online in October 2023. In their music, they engage in a deep improvisational dialog and walk paths through worlds they both discover as they create them.

"Double Up" was recorded in Berlin in January 2023. After Isabel and Girilal had played together for the first time just six months earlier at the sadly defunct Berlin venue Au Topsi Pohl, they decided an album was needed. The sessions took place on two rainy days at the Kühlspot (on some tracks you can hear the raindrops pattering on the metal roof in quiet moments).

The "Soundtrips NRW" concert series presents exciting musical tours through NRW. The 14-year continuity is made possible by the support of the NRW KULTURsekretariat and the participating cities and offers the opportunity to further develop a high-quality concept idea and bring it to life.
