The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 marked the end of the GDR. We are commemorating this important day with six animated films, many of which are based on real stories. The films tell of life in the GDR, which differed significantly from everyday life in West Germany in many areas. They show the urge for personal and political freedom and the repression that destroyed or killed young people in particular. But they also tell of beautiful and absurd moments. An animated journey through time to a country that no longer exists.
