Istanbul synth-wave avant-gardists Jakuzi caused a stir in 2017 with the release of their debut album "Fantezi Müzik", presenting their modern Turkish underground music to the world. With this album, the duo defied what one would stereotypically expect from a male band from Istanbul - Turkish music is not necessarily known for being a genre where men are introspective - but Jakuzi's gothic sensibility spoke to the personal psychological issues they were facing.
Jakuzi are here to provide a home for anyone who has ever felt out of place. Instead of sinking into his personal abyss, Kutay Soyocak sings and sings his heart out on "Hata Payı", blending elements of low-fi, new wave, krautrock and post-punk in the hope that by confronting and observing his inner demons, he can help himself as well as the listeners.
