The preconception that streamers, TikTok stars and YouTubers will eventually make music without any talent, as a pure cash grab, is quite persistent. But this is about Twitch streamer, YouTuber and singer-songwriter James Marriott, and he easily refutes such prejudices with a guitar in his hand. His current singles "Toothache" and "I Don't Want To Live Like This", which were both released in 2025 and have already reached a few million streams, are proof of this. If you then also play his debut album "Are We There Yet" and the hits "Grapes" and "Car Lights" - both from the 2022 debut EP "Bitter Tongues " - all doubts should be gone.

James Marriott is simply a very talented musician who moves confidently between indie pop and alternative rock and is blessed with a voice that immediately charms its way into the ear. And yet the Brit, who was born in 1997, can also be seen on his YouTube channel @JamesMarriott in very funny videos such as "I Traveled To Paris, Just For Croissants" or "If We Laugh, The Video Ends". James Marriott is followed by just over two million people on this channel, with a few fewer on his music YouTube channel @JamesMarriottOfficial.

James Marriott sees as little contradiction in this as his fans do. In an interview, he said: "There are many examples like me these days: musicians who can make other people laugh and still manage to connect with them on a deeper level when it comes to the more emotional side of their music." Lewis Capaldi was an inspiring example for him. "I think that paved the way for others to try and be funny and then also connect with people on a different emotional level."

James Marriott doesn't have to try to be funny or a musician. He is simply both. Period. And it is precisely these two poles that make his concerts so special. From the end of November, you can see this for yourself when James Marriott plays in Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Munich.
