JAMILA & THE OTHER HEROES is a wild band 'from manywhere' that will make you fly with their psychedelic desert funk. Singer Jamila Al-Yousef, who named the band after her Palestinian grandmother, was born in Berlin on the day the Berlin Wall came down and absorbed the revolutionary energy with her mother's milk. Together with her heroes, she composes songs that appeal to a transcultural audience that can identify with the band's diaspora stories and their musical fight against racism. "As people with post-migrant family histories in Syria, Palestine, Italy and Colombia, we create a sense of home and wanderlust in our music."

Jamila's emancipatory message in Arabic and English is supported by powerful live musicians. Let yourself be carried away by an incomparable sound of psychedelic guitar riffs (Leon Sanchez) vibrating on an earthy foundation of warm bass lines (Felix 'Fema' Barth) and Arabic percussion sounds (Salam Alhassan) as well as groovy Afrobeat, hip hop and rock-influenced drum beats (Pier Ciaccio). The dance floor that JAMILA & THE OTHER HEROES create is a breeding ground where people meet and practice togetherness - the musicians' answer to the mechanisms of exclusion of our time.
