Freshly awarded the "Newcomer Jazz Prize of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate" for the first time in 2024, bandleader and saxophonist Paul Scheugenpflug manages a balancing act between catchy pop melodies and energetic jazz improvisation with his compositions. The focus is on a varied and groove-based jazz program with influences from fusion, hip-hop and pop. With the attention gained through the Newcomer Jazz Award, the Biberach Jazz Award 2024 and the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship received in 2023 with the jazz collective "FÄZZ", his debut album with the Paul Scheugenpflug Quartet will be recorded and produced in 2025.
