Claire Cross Duo:
In intimate performances, Claire Cross (electric bass) and Harry Cook (piano) weave their individual voices into flowing, improvised compositions that fuse neo-classical and jazz. Together they explore unspoken dialogs through sound.
The duo weaves together the textures and timbres of piano and electric bass, redefining the possibilities of this unusual combination through immersive compositions. The music draws heavily on influences such as Skúli Sverrisson, Arvo Pärt, Nils Frahm and Christopher Hale.
After releasing their debut album 'Dialect' on Australian label ABC Jazz in 2023 to critical acclaim and over 200,000 streams on Spotify, the duo were offered the opportunity of an artist residency at the Arvo Pärt Centre in Estonia in 2025 as they work towards developing new music for their second album.
Duo Zamorano & Stamer:
A long-standing friendship and a deep love of folk music unite these two young jazz musicians from Hamburg, united in a duo dedicated to exploring the boundaries between Nordic folk tradition and jazz. Their arrangements of tunes from Scandinavia and the Celtic countries blend improvisational elements and harmonic deviations while honoring the melody and expressiveness of traditional music.
Finn Stamer's experience and playful virtuosity on the violin shape the melodic landscape, while Martín Zamorano's polyphonic approach and groove-oriented percussive sound form the foundation. The duo's versatility is evident in a range of different instrumentations, including Hardanger fiddle, octave violin, prepared piano and Rhodes. Their original compositions embody this versatility, ranging from intimate and meditative moments to outbursts of ecstatic and affirming vitality.
Stamer and Zamorano met in 2014 during their first semester of classical music studies at the Hamburg Musikhochschule and quickly developed a deep personal and artistic bond through their open and cross-genre understanding of music. After their first degree, both studied music from a different perspective: Zamorano focused on music theory and composition while working on his own ensemble SNiCE, and Stamer began studying music education while playing in the up-and-coming band Heptapolka - well-known among folk fans in northern Germany. But it wasn't until 2022 in the jazz cellar of the Hamburg Musikhochschule that their idea for a duo was born, after they both decided to take a new turn in their careers and start studying jazz again. Since then, they have been developing a unique style combining many musical and regional influences such as the Floating Sofa Quartet, La Musgaña, Aidan O'Rourke or the traditional music of Denmark, Spain and Scotland, performing in various local venues in Northern Germany.
