Jazzclub Live Special: Jonas Timm Trio

In the organizer's words:

"Viajes" is the word for "journey" in most Spanish-speaking countries - and Jonas Timm and his trio invite us on one with their new live program.

Timm is at home in many places: born in Berlin, he has lived in Leipzig since 2012. Oscar Peterson's virtuoso playing became his musical home early on, as did the music of North, Central and South America. With his new program, he now embarks on a musical journey that takes him and his audience from classic jazz tunes to the diverse rhythms of candombe and merengue - two dance forms that are primarily at home in Uruguay and the Dominican Republic respectively. For all their differences, there is one characteristic that unites both musical poles: the unconditional and unwavering belief in the power of the moment.

With bassist Hans Glawischnig and drummer Diego Piñera, he has two outstanding fellow musicians at his side who are undoubtedly luminaries in their musical field - and who can be experienced live together for the first time in this line-up. With a mixture of original compositions and new interpretations of North, Central and South American songs, they shake up musical coordinate systems - curious, virtuosic and full of enthusiasm.
