And now there's a jazz festival in Hamburg after all...

Our JAZZHOUSE FESTIVAL presents itself in a fresh look this summer with a big line-up at the Knust. On 12.07. we are bringing three of our favorite acts to Hamburg:

LADY WRAY:
A contender for Concert of the Year 2024, Lady Wray left us speechless at her last sold-out show at the Knust. "Lady Wray has the charisma of a Jackson 5 family member while possessing similar vocal abilities to an icon like Aretha Franklin."
This powerful voice has fueled Nicole Wray's decades-long career. As a teenager, she caught the attention of Missy Elliott and Timbaland, also from Virginia, lending her voice to their projects and releasing a hit of her own. She then worked with other greats such as The Black Keys until she teamed up with singer Terri Walker in 2012 to form the duo Lady. The two split up after a short time, but Wray kept the band name by prefixing it to her own name and started making the music she was born to make with Big Crown Records.

LES IMPRIMÉS:
And again our heart label Big Crown Records: this is the label, from mastermind El Michels Affair, on which Lee Fields or Holy Hive release. Soul, funk, hip-hop, in other words. This is also where "Rêverie", the debut album by Les Imprimés, was released. Behind it is Norwegian Morgen Martens, who has already caused a stir with two vinyl 7″s from IN KREISEN.
Soul and gospel were a constant presence in Martens' parents' household, which naturally had a formative influence on his musical work and his unique, sensitive and uncategorizable sound. LES IMPRIMÉS combine the groove and sounds of the 60s and 70s, arrangements from doo-wop records, the drum energy of hip-hop and vocal styles from the 90s.
But in the end, it's Martens' lyrics, emotions and the way he delivers them that really bring it all together and set him apart from his peers. The music is infectious and has a pop sensibility that gives LES IMPRIMÉS that rare quality of immediate appeal that only deepens the more you listen.

DANDELION HONEY:
Somewhere between Khruangbin and Mac DeMarco, Dandelion Honey are "our panacea" for world-weariness, to quote our friends at Groove City (they have the record, of course). The indie compositions wrap themselves around the listener's consciousness like a soft blanket and send everyday life and worries into nirvana - simply balm for the soul.
