JazzSession: Simon Kuhn Quartett

In the organizer's words:

The Simon Kuhn Quartet combines influences ranging from post bop and modern jazz to neo-classical music. The line-up of violin, guitar, bass and drums offers a wide range of timbres to showcase the band members' compositions in both edgy and spherical ways. The sound possibilities are fully exploited, from swing to groove passages to duet constellations.

In addition, pieces by contemporary composers such as Immanuel Wilkins, Ralph Towner and Jason Palmer are woven into the sets through improvisations and transitions. The quartet was recently successful at the Werner Richard - Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation jazz competition and received a performance grant to intensify their artistic collaboration.
