JAZZWERK OCTET

The "JazzWerk Oktett" presents music by pianist Dirk Bleese. His compositions and arrangements are reminiscent of works by Art Pepper, Gil Evans or Benny Golson and are borrowed from various genres of jazz history. Modern, Latin and groove jazz, crisp brass sections, orchestral soundscapes, grandiose soloists from the Hamburg scene - a varied and energetic program!

The JazzWerk is a collective of Hamburg jazz musicians and regularly presents orchestral jazz in various formations and different programs at BIRDLAND: In October as an octet, in December as a nonet and in February 2025 in a classic big band format, every other month on the 2nd Wednesday! The members of JazzWerk are all renowned soloists and bandleaders from the Hamburg and German jazz scene.
