Jeano Elong & Not OK Jazz. DURCHLÜFTEN – 2025 Live Konzerte & DJ Acts

In the organizer's words:

Free, outdoors and under palm trees: this summer, the DURCHLÜFTEN music festival will once again transform the Humboldt Forum's large Schlüterhof courtyard into a lively meeting place for sound, rhythm and culture.

Over four weekends, music from all over the world will radiate from the stage: from the raw energy of Mexican cumbia punk to the hypnotic groove of Kenyan dodo blues, from the electrifying syncopation of Congolese soukous to the powerful messages of Afrofuturist big bands. Japanese folk with a Caribbean influence, soulful jazz, hip-hop and the joy and resilience of the Frafra gospel round off this celebration of sound - boundless, multi-perspective and irresistibly danceable!

Jeano Elong & Not OK Jazz (Cameroon, Hamburg)

Drums and djembé, distorted electric piano sounds, psychedelic synthesizers and edgy guitars in the style of Kid Creole or Talking Heads: Jeano Elong & Not OK Jazz play alternative Afro, Makossa with a twist, highlife like a trip: tropical, funky and political.

Jeano Elong, singer and bassist, comes from Cameroon. He sings in Bakaka, a Bantu language from his home village of Eboné. He came to Hamburg in 2013 as one of the so-called "Lampedusa refugees" who had to flee the civil war in Libya. In Hamburg, he became part of the agitprop collective Schwabinggrad Ballett & Arrivati, which is centered around producer and musician Ted Gaier (Goldene Zitronen). Jeano Elong released his debut album Jâbeâ in November. His songs have their roots in Cameroonian or African genres such as Makossa, Bikutsi or Highlife, but you can hear that they were played in Altona and St. Pauli. His band Not OK Jazz consists of musicians from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Gambia and Germany.
