Jenny Evans is an important name in jazz in Germany. The British singer has been flying the jazz flag for 50 dazzling years. This continuity is due not only to her voice, but also to the emotionally nuanced performance of each of her songs - whether jazz standards, borrowings from the repertoire of the Great American Songbook and other musical genres or works from her own pen.

A permanent fixture in jazz

The quality of her interpretations is based on a pronounced feeling for lyrics and their melody. For TIME Magazine, she is "the leading female jazz singer in Germany". Although jazz is not one of the mainstream musical genres, the singer still manages to appeal to an audience far beyond the die-hard jazz clientele - thanks to her delicate yet glamorous performances and her knack for musically exciting crossover projects. Jenny Evans will be celebrating the milestone of half a century on the world's jazz stages next year with a festive concert in the Silbersaal.

Jenny Evans

After studying linguistics, Evans came to Munich and became a sought-after guest singer in the Schwabing jazz clubs. She learned to improvise and perform spontaneous arrangements on stage from jazz legend and drummer Freddie Brocksieper. In 1985, she even opened her own jazz club, "Jennys Place". Since then, she has been in demand worldwide not only as a singer, but also as an actress, author, speaker and songwriter.
