Born in 1989, Jessica Hannah Glynne grew up as the daughter of an A&R manager with an early connection to the music industry. At the age of 15, she successfully applied for The X Factor, but then focused on her school career and worked on her network in the music industry. After a one-month course at East London College, Glynne came to the attention of Black Butter Records, which led to a signing with Atlantic Records in 2013, whereupon the singer quit her job and was able to devote herself fully to music. With "My Love", the singer scored her first #1 hit in the UK singles charts in 2014, whereupon Clean Bandit became aware of her and asked her to feature on their song "Rather Be".
