Jana Kießer explores social interactions and socio-political issues in participative and collaborative projects. Her multimedia works exhibited in the pavilion at the Milchhof deal with sexism and grief - a recurring motif in her works are plants, which appear as mediators of feelings and states.
Have a laugh!
FLINTA* encounters the toxic excesses of patriarchy on a daily basis in the form of discriminatory everyday sexism. In spring 2023, Jana Kießer founded a regulars' table - together with other FLINTA*, she explores verbal sexism and potential reactions to it in a participatory installation. Surrounded by plant photographs that embody feelings and a rebellious symbolic power, experiences are shared and quick-witted responses to sexism are collected and passed on.
The stone looks like a heart!
Since the death of her grandmother Elisabeth Kießer in spring 2021, the artist has been working with the estate of the painter and graphic artist - Elisabeth Kießer left behind over 250 watercolors and drawings, clay sculptures and painted objects. Jana Kießer explores the transgenerational transmission of aesthetics, processes grief and deals artistically with her grandmother's estate - for this she also cooperates with her mother Iris Kießer-Koriako and Elisabeth's sister Gisela Käb.
