Gently melancholic, dramatically direct.
As a young artist, emgee writes lyrics that touch her, melodies that captivate her, and embarks on a search for herself in music.
With role models such as Tom Odell, Birdy and Sarah Kinsley, she promises closeness, honesty and intimacy in her sound, without committing herself to a genre or theme. The early twenties are for searching, experiencing and learning - that's exactly what emgee packs into her songs, which she has been sharing with audiences since last year.
Kliffs is the Berlin-based duo of two Canadians: Mark Bérubé (guitar, keys, vocals) and Kristina Koropecki (cello, synthesizer, vocals). The two met twelve years ago in an improvised rehearsal room in Montréal when Kristina joined Mark's solo project. The two toured Canada and Europe numerous times with Mark's band and finally moved to Berlin in 2014. They were invited to play at many prestigious festivals, such as Paleo (Nyon, CH), Printemps de Bourges (Bourges,FR), Stuttgart Open (Stuttgart, DE), and many more. After a short break for other projects, the two reunited as a duo in 2018 under their new name KLIFFS and released their first album Temporary Cures in November 2019. You may have seen them play in the bands of Agnes Obel (Kristina) or Sophie Hunger (Mark) in Europe in recent years.
Geographically, they make Montreal music in Berlin. Musically, they compose songs that are better suited to late-night bike rides in the city center and shy dancers. Lyrically, they write recycled tone poems that combine the thoughts of the eternally confused and the intensity of gentle earthquakes. From the Talking Heads-esque "Bully" to an orchestral minor key cover of Jackson Brown's "These Days" (via Nico) to the synth-folk duets "Blasphemy" and "Silent Side", their latest release "BULLY EP" (2020) showcases the wide range of sonorous textures, rhythms and melodies that form the core of the KLIFFS sound.
