John Watts: Punkt! Art

In the organizer's words:

One-day exhibition and live music with works by John Watts, creative head of the British cult band Fischer-Z

For almost 50 years, John Watts has been doing things his own way. From the new wave and post-punk beginnings of the band Fischer-Z in 1977 to many fruitful solo years, he has enjoyed a self-directed career spanning punk, poetry, politics, visual art and much more.

In the 20th century, photography stole painting's central role as a form of artistic expression. Today, artificial intelligence poses a similar challenge to visual art, music and literature, demanding a reassessment of the artistic value of human creativity.

PUNKT! ART sees itself as a response to this development and takes a stand: art must continue to be tangible - immediate and tangible.

The individual vinyl audio works and line drawings by John Watts are an attempt to merge the visual and the acoustic into a new and direct experience.
