The AMUSEUM of Contemporary Art presents a unique live performance by the renowned Senegalese hip-hop duo Journal Rappé on Thursday, May 22 in the neighboring Lost Weekend !

The two rappers Xuman and Keyti create an electrifying symbiosis of performing and visual arts when they take the works of the anonymous artist NoNÅME from his current exhibition "Sell la Vie" as the starting point for their performance.

With sharp-witted lines and catchy beats, Journal Rappé delights its audience with a brilliant evening show of a very different kind - and with Free admission!

Journal Rappé: When the headline becomes a punchline

What began in 2013 in the Senegalese capital Dakar as a counterpoint to mainstream reporting quickly achieved cult status internationally. With their rapped news format Journal Rappé, the two hip-hop activists Xuman and Keyti skillfully build a bridge between the generations. The well-researched articles on the humanities and inhumanities of our time, which are packaged in witty, trilingual word salvos (English, French, Wolof), inspire young and old alike. With catchy beats and animalistic lines, Journal Rappé not only creates access to current social challenges, but also a participatory interest from their audience! The innovative use of digital channels such as YouTube and Instagram opens up low-threshold, global accessibility to their content.

NoNÅME: visual power meets word acrobatics

In his current exhibition "Sell la Vie", NoNÅME presents a multifaceted outline of our current zeitgeist. In a multi-layered oeuvre of oil paintings, collages and mixed-media works, the anonymous artist uses pointed wit to specifically address everyday absurdities and accurately dissect themes of social inequality. By using well-known quotes from punk, pop and advertising, he succeeds in incorporating both the collective memory and the individual experiences of the visitors.
